Flick Doesn't Forgive This Player, Not to Play against Sevilla: Laporta is Upset

FC Barcelona is upset with the way its players are treated during the international break.

Hansi Flick has very strict rules. His "stylebook" absolutely forbids the use of a player who's played 180 minutes during the international window.

And that's the case of Jules Koundé: He played for France against Israel (1-4) and Belgium (1-2). Flick was very angry about it.

Even though It's not the player's fault, all of Barça's internationals have the habit of asking their corresponding national teams for compassion in order not to play two full games, especially if victory is expected.

Koundé won't Play against Sevilla

And Flick doesn't understand why Koundé played the full 90 minutes against Israel despite the 1-4 scoreline. Even more so afterward, as a sign of goodwill, he left him on the bench during last match in Vitoria.

Barça is facing Sevilla on Sunday at Montjuic and Koundé are not playing, at least not as a starter. Flick doesn't want to break him and suffer another loss that nobody wants.

The match is special for Koundé because he spent three years of his career in Sevilla, earning his transfer for FC Barcelona.

Koundé is one of Flick's most used players. He's played 11 official matches this season: nine in La Liga and two in the Champions League.

What Bothers Laporta

With the French national team, Didier Deschamps has chosen to place Koundé at the right back, just as Flick does at FC Barcelona.

Koundé tried to convince Xavi to place him as a center-back in his lineups but all coaches see him more as a full-back.

Laporta is outraged and there's general discomfort at Barça. Koundé is the only one in the French national team who played every minute. Only Saliba, Konaté and goalkeeper Maignan played as much.

The Barcelona president is annoyed that it is Barça, the club that pays him, that has to regulate the player while the French team can squeeze him until the last minute.

Fortunately, Koundé has returned to Barcelona without any physical issues, but the risk of a muscle injury is high when so many games are played in a row.
