Luis Enrique Stays at PSG on One Condition: Al-Khelaifi Complies While Laporta is KO'd

The Asturian coach demands the transfer of a player from FC Barcelona to continue in Paris.

Luis Enrique has reached an agreement to renew his contract with PSG until 2027. They didn't want to lose him and Al-Khelaifi has met all their demands: hierarchy, leadership and a higher salary. However, the businessman still has something to fulfill, since the Asturian coach has put on the table the transfer of a Barça player: Gavi.

He knows him from his time as Spain's coach and it's not the first time he wants to sign him for PSG. Gavi is a player Luis Enrique likes very much and he hasn't lost sight of him. He has a contract with Barça but only until 2026. Al-Khelaifi plans to make an offer soon to try to convince him and defeat President Laporta.

At 20 years old, Gavi has just recovered from a long-term injury. It was eleven months on the sidelines but he will be back soon. The player from Los Palacios is a key player at Barcelona and nobody wants him to leave. However, this demand from Luis Enrique could difficult his future at Barça.

Laporta Negotiates Gavi's Renewal

Aware of the interest Luis Enrique has, Laporta doesn't want to take any risks with Gavi. The intention is to renew his contract as soon as possible, guaranteeing his continuity at Barça for many more years.

Madrid-Barcelona has learned that the first contacts have already taken place with Gavi's entourage and the player himself. So far everything looks good.

Laporta is preparing a new deal for Gavi, which would see him stay at Barça for several more years, until 2030. He would receive a pay rise (less than the one offered to him by Luis Enrique's PSG) and would be guaranteed an important place in Flick's plans.

Luis Enrique Wants to "Spanishize" PSG

Having reached an agreement to renew his contract until 2027, what Luis Enrique now seeks is to consolidate his position as leader of the project.

As he did with the Spanish national team, Luis Enrique doesn't want stars. He wants great players who only care about the club badge, as is the case of Gavi.

PSG's leader is Luis Enrique, no one else. The dressing room knows this and only wants players capable of contributing in that regard. Gavi loves him and he fits in well, but he knows that it'll be very difficult for him.

Barça isn't planning to negotiate Gavi's exit, unless he asks straight for his departure. The Andalusian has a release clause of 1 billion euros. Whoever wants him should pay it, regardless of whether his name is Luis Enrique or Pepito Pérez.
