Florentino's U-turn Stops Signing: 'He Likes Barça'. Ancelotti Doesn't Believe It

His signing for Real Madrid was settled, but a video is one step away from ruining it.

An ill-timed video from February has gone viral on social media. And it could risk a signing that Real Madrid had already agreed on since last summer.

We are talking about versatile Liverpool international defender Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Bernabéu's elite even considered signing him immediately to cover Carvajal.

His Sympathy with Barça Puts his Signing at Risk

But he is negatively affected by the video, which shows his support for Barça, also putting Leo Messi before Cristiano Ronaldo in his preferences.

The signing is now walking the tightrope: Florentino Pérez wasn't happy to find out that he likes Barça and Ancelotti is devastated.

He was counting on him to replace Carvajal's right-back role next season. He was reserving the left-back role for Alphonso Davies. Ancelotti wanted to have powerful full-backs.

Previously, in 2022, he gave an interview to GQ magazine in its English edition. In it, Alexander-Arnold showed himself to be a big Barça fan, going so far as to say that Barça was his second team after Liverpool.

"Barça is my Second Team After Liverpool"

"I'd say my other favorite team is Barça. I feel like they have the same values and beliefs as Liverpool. They like to bring out players from the youth academy," he said at the time.

In other words, he likes what's opposite to Real Madrid, the "youth academy" of which can be the whole world. This declaration of principles hasn't gone down well at the Bernabéu .

When asked to choose between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, he chose the Argentine: " I grew up watching Messi and that special Barcelona team with Iniesta, Xavi, Henry, Eto'o," he said with great conviction.

"Messi is the Best in History"

And in the challenge of choosing the best player in history, Alexander-Arnold was clear: Leo Messi.

This is not the best way to open the doors of the Bernabéu, although Jude Bellingham, his close friend, is doing everything possible to help him sign for the white club.

Alexander-Arnold will have to regret his words and explain himself if he wants to sign for Real Madrid this summer. there's still time to fix it.
